- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup almonds, chopped
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons chopped almonds for garnish
- Mix first 5 ingredients in heavy saucepan. Cook over medium high heat until candy thermometer reads 305 degrees. Pour out onto a buttered cookie sheet. Let candy set for a few minutes, then sprinkle with chocolate chips. When melted, spread the chocolate on top of the candy. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of almonds, cool and crack into pieces.
