Enjoy December, our delicious holiday month!
In season in the Produce Aisle:
Mandarins: Easy to peel, seedless, sweet and delicious, Placer County mandarins also contain significant amount of synepherine, a natural product that can help relieve the symptoms of colds and allergies. Enjoy them through mid-January.
Cranberries: The crisp, tangy taste of cranberries, fresh or dried, add lots of bright flavor to winter salads, sauces and baking, and like mandarins, cranberries have lots of health benefits. We like to toss a few bags of fresh berries into the freezer while they are in season and enjoy them all winter.
Hoshigaki: These Japanese artisan dried persimmons are painstakingly hand crafted following traditional methods. Peeled and allowed to air dry, the fruit is gently massaged by hand daily until the natural persimmon sugar crystallizes on the outside. Don’t miss this seasonal treat.
In season in the Wine and Beer Department:
Naggiar Root 49: Seductively dark garnet in color, Root 49 is an estate grown blend of syrah, tempranillo, grenache and malbec. This full-bodied red wine pairs well with cheeses and roasted meat dishes and the beautiful, artistic bottle will grace any holiday table.
Stone Xocoveza: Stone’s holiday beer is an insanely delicious take on Mexican hot chocolate brewed with cocoa, coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg—a yearly tradition by popular demand.
Ruhstaller The Sauce: The Sauce is a limited production coffee infused porter made with sweet, complex, “White Honey” coffee beans from Costa Rica.
In season in the Retail Department:
Stonewall Kitchens Holiday Jam: A wonderful addition to your holiday table, Stonewall Kitchen’s Holiday Jam contains ripe pears, tart cranberries and sweet raspberries with a hint of orange liqueur.
Panetone: This Italian Christmas Bread is available in “Tradizionale” with raisins and candied orange peel and “Cioccolato” with chocolate chips and hazelnut paste.
