In March we all wondered what was to come. How do we continue in the face of a pandemic? Who needs to shelter at home? Who wants to work? How do we manage with a reduced work force? The answers were unclear but we needed decisions; so, not knowing what would happen, we reduced our hours, our staff, and our offerings, and forged ahead.

Here we are, almost three months later, still working and ready to take a few steps forward. Indoors we are way too small to maintain social distancing for seated dining, but we have opened up our outdoor tables and spaced them far apart. And we have increased our open hours to 9 to 5 daily, Sundays 9 to 4. Thank you to all of you who supported us through this difficult time, and thank you to our dedicated employees who faced possible virus exposure and made salads, sandwiches, coffee and scones, stocked the shelves and produce case, and much more to keep us going. You are my heroes!
LOCAL PRODUCERS STILL HARD AT WORK
Through it all, one thing continues unchanged. Our local food producers are still hard at work despite the effects of the stay at home order. Our produce case is stocked with seasonal local produce. We have local white and yellow peaches, Blenheim apricots, pluots, and oranges, with plums, nectarines and melons expected soon. We have local carrots, beets, greens, onions, lettuce, baby greens, fennel and squashes; sweet corn and green beans grown in Brentwood; and local tomatoes are almost ready! In addition, our local flower growers, Happy Road Farm and Grow Where You’re Planted, are both bringing us beautiful bouquets to lift our spirits.
All your favorite local artisan food producers are working hard to supply us and you with the best our area has to offer. Farmers. wineries, olive oil producers, bakeries, candy makers, cookie bakers, cheese makers, coffee roasters, brewers, and producers of sauces, jams, and all sorts of edible delights are counting on you. Please support your local artisan food producers by buying local with us this summer. With these much loved small businesses, you need to either choose them or lose them.
