The Berry Merry Month of May

Good bye April, hello May! If allergies were not a factor, May would be the perfect month!

May brings us Cinco de Mayo, an excuse for us to enjoy a feast of the delicious cuisine from south of the border(remember to buy extra avocadoes!) Here at NP we’ll be well stocked with tamales, chips, and salsa for your fiesta.

We also celebrate peak strawberry harvest in May. (Why is National Strawberry Day in February?) On Twin Brooks Farm, this is our second season growing these glistening fruits. They really are prolific! The plants are young, the weather is mild, and the strawberries are plentiful, plump, and delicious. We expect a long harvest with plenty for fresh strawberry lemonade and enough strawberry jam to last until next season.

May is also the month we celebrate Mothers.  Sunday, May 13, is Mom’s special day and we’ve brought in some special new wines with Mom in mind. Stella Rosa Imperial Moscato Rosé is a superb sparkling wine wrapped up in a pretty purple tin just for Mom. Serve it with a scoop of Talenti Raspberry Sorbet. Yum! Or try refreshing Fresca Frizzante, a sparkling wine from Venice, Italy, made with white peach and blood orange juice. Mix it equal parts with Stella Rosa Prosecco for a Mother’s Day Black Bellini.

Chocolate is another Mother’s Day favorite and the timing is perfect for  chocolate dipped strawberries! Grown on Twin Brooks Farm and prepared in the NP kitchen, make sure you stop by and get some for a Mother’s Day treat for your mom.

Strawberries aren’t the only things we have dipped in chocolate. If Mom likes the salty/sweet combination, she will love Sweet Creations Chocolate Covered Pretzel Twists in dark or milk chocolate, in packs of two or in towers of eight with different finishes. We also have crispy, gooey Pretzel Rods dipped first in chewy fresh caramel and then dipped in premium chocolate. P’nut A Pop is popcorn and salted pretzels drenched in peanut brittle and drizzled with dark chocolate. Jungle Crunch is chunks of different Copper Kettle Brittles tossed with Chocolate Covered Pretzel pieces, Chocolate Covered Animal Crackers, and popcorn. Mom will love it!
